A short opinion about Manipuri Vaishnabism

Postby kungo thang » Thu Dec 08, 2011 10:37 am

Actually not a community or race can be assigned by any book such as Srimadvagabat or etc. all the phisophical lines and spirits have to be adapted, transformed and deconstructed according to the process of living and of saving existance of the people.

Manipuris accepted Vaisnabism in the very multiple and critical socio-cultural condition in Manipur which were not helping them to stand on a strict position in that very CONTRADICTORY SITUATION. At that time they need some very expressive structure to give relief their thinking standing out of all primitive rulles. So they recieved Vaisnabism not only under the King's notice but also upon their own metaphysical truth as the Viaisnabism came to them through some gorgeous living presentation like Rasleela, Notpala, Basok, Nupipala and many other forms oozing out of community’s own phenomenon.

A very lively and localise Vaisnabism was resurracted in Manipur inwhere Radha- Krishna’s love, affection, sorrow of departing all were attached deeply with people’s inner life and mind. Radha’s tears streamed into a genre of all sorrows of the marginal peoples. Vaisnabist CONSCIOUS got arrested by Manipuri’s Mass-sub-conscious minds, Arts also got allocated with local rituals, So philosophy, arts and rituals kept a physiologial unity, and Religion lost its institutional ESTABLISHMENT. It can be mentioned nothing but a cultural revolution in the view of post-modern soocial concept. And all the forms of presenting Vaisnabist thingking and philosophy took so dymension and so many artistic arrangements that people had to dedicated themselves in those arts, as a result religion and culture started walking friendly and liberally. As the perfomances took highly classical art forms those had become something impossible to be exlpoitied or interrupted by OTHERS. So now-a-days all other marginal and minor groups of people are in a big trouble to save their cultural identity, but manipuris stands comparatively much strong with their cultural artistic phenomena.

How Vaisnab-philosophy got a form of localise classicallity by the Manipuri peoples, hope i’ll try to explain later.
